He and Liz helped Aberdeen purchase three works of art, the Benny Bufano 'Owl' at the library , the George Tsutakawa Fountain outside City Hall, and the Gerald Tsutakawa sculpture in the library parking lot. He was a 1939 graduate of Weatherwax High School and a 1943 graduate of Stanford University.

Bob began his career with Guardian Life in July, 1946, serving Aberdeen and Grays Harbor County alongside his father, Walter, who started the agency in 1929. Bob finally sold his business at age 95, still dedicated to his clients, their welfare, and their investment needs. An independent agent, he was also general agent for Guardian and he met and exceeded the company's award levels many times over. He received the National Association of Life Underwriters Quality Award for 45 consecutive years. He was also a Chartered Life Underwriter for many years. Grabbing cards to make rooms of the desired size isn’t all that interesting, so what else is there? One of the big impediments to your goal is that you can only build rooms that have a stable foundation below them. To start a game, this means three of your main floor rooms and the two basement rooms. In order to build the second floor, you need something on the first floor below it. This alone turns Dream House into a fun puzzle of timing and planning. The bonus or enhancement cards really start to add something to the game.

So the game itself is, rather fitting for a game about building a house, all about planning. Sticking a single point bathroom slap bang in the middle of a row will immediately stop you from building your three card living room. On the other hand leaving the space for that third card could always be a bit ambitious. After all, if you’ve got your eye on that three piece suite then the chances are so does someone else. Points are also scored for functionality, having a bedroom, bathroom and a kitchen earns you a bonus 3 points, as does having a bathroom on both top floors. You receive a strike each time you don’t guess correctly, and three strikes mean the round is over.

Review Summary

It’s worth noting that the voice of the host sounds eerily like the late Ray Combs, the original host of television game show. Family Feud Dream Homereally wins when it comes to easy and entertaining game play, though it could do with a better in-game thesaurus. The end result is a pack that plays entirely to the strength of existing game mechanics, rather than halfheartedly attempting to add entirely new ones. This game has got to be the best renovating match 3 game I've ever played!! It's super easy to get power ups to help you pass the level. I just installed the game and have finished 2 complete rooms already.

Any cards still on the board are discarded and both rows are refilled. At the end of the twelfth round, the decks are empty and the game ends. Dream Home is a lightweight set collection and card drafting game that has players striving to create their dream home. “Dream” being defined as the home that scores the most points, not the one that looks the coolest.

Dream Home is one of those games where you never truly know who has won until the final scoring. Now I love a box insert, and the house shaped plastic insert inside this game is brilliant. Probably one of my favourite inserts in fact, it all packs away beautifully. Arguably there is a lot of wasted space in the box too and it could’ve been shrunk down a bit quite happily.

Like a particularly nice rug, this really ties the game together. For such small cards there’s a ton of detail on each of them. If any games do take longer than usual it’s because people are spending all their time staring at the art. The last little touch is that all the room art flows together to create continuous rooms no matter which way you organise them and this is so satisfying to look at.

The other components are good quality and the player boards are thick and well done, but there just isn’t that much here. Speaking of resource cards, if you think that remembering which colour roof cards you have in your collection is easy then think again. Guaranteed someone will pick their first one and loudly pronounce “I’ve got a red tile” only later in the game to mutter to themselves “wait, was I collecting brown tiles? ” it’s actually a small source for celebration as you finally turn over your cards and see that you’ve matched four colours.

Then place out four resource cards above the room cards leaving the left most empty. Dream Home is an excellent introduction for entry-level gamers to card drafting games.

The replayability of Dream Home is hampered as there is no way to change up the home functionality objectives. The rule for having a bathroom on each floor for example gives some direction to the players to not solely aim for high point scoring rooms. If that objective changed each game it would help the experience stay fresh by making what the rooms were “worth” more dynamic. Four cardboard objective reminder tokens are included in the box, which is great for making sure everyone is informed. Though, those 4 could have been different objective tiles to play with over different games.
